Update 11/2021
Cornerstone Church hosted the 4th annual Kids for Kids run today and it was an incredible event! Our Children's Pastor, Kari Quesada (and her amazing team), organize this event annually to raise money for Pastor David's school in the village of Kiwungu. Over 100 kids ran today to raise money for a new community development project that we are so excited about.
As many schools across the world are now back in-person, Uganda's schools have remained with closed doors since the day we left the country in March 2020. This article shares perspective of the struggles the country has had after schools have been closed for 78+ weeks. Because of this, our partners at River City Church in California have supported Ugandan Social Workers to monitor the students and families for health and education checks over the last few months.
In the past, the Uganda Kids for Kids run has supported the funding of the school buildings at Divine Wisdom Jr. School. However, new needs within the community have become apparent during the pandemic and we are excited about a new project that will support local families in micro-loans for small businesses.
Details of the program:
4 family groups will work together and be given a loan amount of $100.00.
With this money, the families will EITHER rent 1 acre of land to plant/harvest and then sell, or start a small business piggery or other animal-based business.
Social Workers will monitor and support families over one year of the project.
*This project has been completed successfully in local areas through another local organization.
If you are interested in supporting this project specifically, please use this link for payment. You do not need to enter a runner name into the memo line!
Thank you for continuing to pray for the people in Uganda. We are grateful for your continued support.
